Edouard Manet: 'A Bar at the Folies-Bergère'

Tuesday, 13th September 2016

at St George's School, Ascot.

Reception from 6:45 pm.

Lecture is preceded by AGM which commences at 7:30 pm.

Lizzie Darbyshire is a graduate of the Courtauld Institute of Art and has wide experience as a freelance lecturer in the History of Art.  In Edouard Manet’s painting, ‘A Bar at the Folies-Bergère’ the scene depicted appears to show a barmaid at work while a gentleman waits at the bar and in the background spectators watch the night’s entertainment.  But all is not what it seems.
